Carrington Lane Play Park
1. Paragraph from Lymington Times, undated, saying approval in principle given to the erection of a Boys Club hut on the park. With note by Hylda Bruce attached giving list of original subscribers and the address of Miss Wilkes. 2. Note dated 19 July 1951 from Town Clerk’s office, Borough of Lymington to Hylda Bruce acknowledging receipt of her letter. 3. Letters dated 30 July & 4 September 1951 to Hylda Bruce from Gwen Wilkes, Wootton Wawen, Warwickshire confirming she had visited the park and would not give consent for the hut. 4. Undated pencil-written note by G F Lodder & Son, Henley in Arden, Warwickshire stating conditions on the use of the land (presumably, Miss Wilkes’ solicitors). 5. Letter dated 27 September 1951 to Hylda Bruce from Lymington Borough Town Clerk advising that the council had decided to take the matter no further as the executor of Isaac Thompson Wilkes had not given consent. [Isaac Wilkes, was the farmer of Carrington Farm & had sold the land for the park. See Occasional Magazine Vol 5 no 3 p45 Childrens’ Playground]
