Gorse Cliff (sometimes Gorse Cliffe or Gorsecliff) set up as hospital by local committee to requirements of War Office; inspected and passed by government, but no patients ever sent; taken over by War Office as part of convalescent home for Indian soldiers. Attempting to recover costs from War Office, but requesting guarantors to subscribe 10% of their guarantee to cover costs. World War 1.
