Milford Charities
Pages from the Poole & Bournemouth Herald of 22 August, 29 August & 5 September 1889. Lengthy article by W J C Moens. Although the first part is headed The Milton & Boldre Charities, it gives full details of the various Milford Charities and their origins (Penny, Bell Plot, Kitch, Braxton, Pryce & Kennard) also details the case of the Attorney General versus Hicks & Others 22 May 1735. The last article concludes “to be continued next week” (as does the following week’s) but the later articles refer to Lymington, Brockenhurst etc. Referenced in Dr. Harris’ paper on Endowed Charities in Occasional Magazine Vol. 1 No. 3, 1910. Pages downloaded from, and copyright of, British Newspaper Library. Digital record only.
