Urn found at Lymore in 1927 by A. C. G. Heygate. An 8in. high clay urn was found in pieces in a gravel pit at Lymore in August 1927. Its importance is that it dates from pre-Roman Britain of c.1200 BC. The urn was in a small chamber underneath a 7-8ft wide pit roughly 6½ft below ground and is likely to be a domestic vessel from a semi-subterranean pit dwelling. A photograph of the artefact accompanies the article.
