Children’s Playground by Mrs. Woodd, Miss Bruce and Major W. J. Dixson. A public meeting in March 1935 decided to commemorate King George V’s Silver Jubilee by purchasing a field adjacent to Carrington Lane that would be turned into a children’s playground. The three authors, all members of the organising committee, outline with financial details how this was achieved from public subscription and grants. The Lymington Borough Council supplied the equipment and undertook to maintain the playground; its Mayor performed the formal opening on 24 July 1935.
