The Spire of Milford Church by Canon R. T. Cole. The present spire of Milford Church does not cover the top of the tower and, when viewed in elevation, appears as though it might sink down into it. Drawing A illustrates this. By examining the architectural details the author demonstrates that this regrettable feature is a consequence of a makeshift repair of the spire in 1827 when it was covered in new lead. His drawing B shows a design for tower and spire more in keeping with the Church’s 13th century origins.
