MOSHRS is one of the oldest local history societies in the country.
In 2018 we became a charity and adopted a new constitution. As well as a Board of Trustees, we have a committee to manage the direction and activities of the Society.
Membership
Interested in hearing about local history or finding out for yourself or meeting others with similar interests? There’s a lot of value in being a member of MOSHRS. Find out more.
Activities
We have an active membership with a programme of talks and an annual outing. In the last four years we have completed two major projects Bringing History Home and Cornwallis Remembered. In 2022 we have launched a further two significant projects Local History Lives! involving the provision of three new online search aids to help the researcher and the Hurst Castle Interpretation Project carrying out research into the history of Hurst Castle. For those particularly interested in researching our local history we have a Research Group.
Contributing to our records
We have been collecting historical records ever since the Society was founded in 1909. Today we have over 9,500 and we are making them more accessible through our on-line archive catalogue. If you have some documents, images or artefacts which tell some of Milford’s history and would like to add them to the archive then please get involved.
