A stroll round the village green

Here is a very gentle walk looking at some of the oldest houses around the hub of the village. It starts at the car park off Sea Road, but you can join it anywhere.

If you would like to see longer histories of some of the houses then follow this link.

  • According to Joanna Close-Brooks in her book “A Walk round the Old Buildings of Milford and Keyhaven” the short row of houses which stood next to the Red Lion in the early 18th century has been substantially rebuilt, nos 34-38 in the 1960’s, nos 40 and 42 back in 1825. But she wrote that in 1989 and a lot can happen in thirty years.

  • We very much enjoyed the 30 min walk around the green taking in the different historical buildings. I wonder though, if the dates are right for houses next to the Red Lion. The brick work and roof tiles for No 40 suggests 1900’s where’s as 38 and more so 36 and 34 look much older?
