Introducing our Parish Registers

Welcome to MOSHRS Parish Registers.

Before July 1837 when Civil Registration started, the formal record of baptisms, marriages and burials was held by the parishes. While access to the Civil Registers can be obtained readily using the internet (or through the National Archives) the registers of individual parishes before Civil Registration can be more difficult to access with researchers having to rely on microfiche at public libraries and Record Offices.

Local History Lives! provides online access to Milford’s Parish Registers from 1594 until 1837. The registers cover the Ancient Parish of Milford. All dates assume that the calendar year starts on 1^stJanuary. The sources for the online Parish Registers are Milford 1594-1837, Milton 1651-1837 and Hordle 1751-1837.

The Parish Registers are organised in three separate categories: Baptisms, Marriages and Burials.
