Occasional Magazine Vol.5 No.2 (October 1933)
Bishop F. T. McDougall (Bishop of Labuan & Sarawak 1855-1868; Vicar of Milford 1881-1885)by Rev. R. J. Hitchcock. Francis McDougall qualified as a surgeon but abandoned a medical career for Holy Orders and was ordained in 1845. The author gives a sympathetic biography of his main life’s work and achievements as missionary, school teacher and doctor in primitive Borneo during particularly perilous times. This leads to understanding the character of the man who later became a controversial Vicar of Milford.
