Minnie Reily and Rynda

Minnie Reily at Rynda

Look what a simple enquiry about the grave of Minnie Reily has led to.

A correspondent wrote from Australia inquiring about the grave of Minnie Reily. Minnie lived at Rynda which is in a list of works by a local architect, William Ravenscroft, and was built in 1913 for Major Reily.  Major Reily was the older brother of Minnie’s husband.

Rynda stood in splendid isolation along what was initially called The Esplanade, now Hurst Road. Minnie is seen in the photograph with her motorbike – the Lady Douglas – which she used around the area, continuing riding into her 60s. Minnie was buried in All Saints churchyard in 1931.

Have you any photographs of relatives in the village? Would you like to share them?
